We’ve had a 4-day weekend to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating 60 years on the throne this year. She and Queen Victoria are the only ones in the country’s history to have a Diamond Jubilee. It’s so fun to be in England for such an historic event!

We went into Carlisle’s city centre yesterday to check out some of the festivities. They had several musical groups playing on a stage, and the Diamond Jubilee concert at Buckingham Palace was going to be broadcast on a big screen that evening.
I don’t know that I’ve seen so many Union Jacks in one place in my life! Even though it seems like the British aren’t nearly as patriotic as the Americans, they get pretty excited about something like a Jubilee or a Royal Wedding.
