What’s the thing you most want to achieve next year? How do you imagine you’ll feel when you get it? Free? Happy? Complete? Blissful? Write that feeling down. Then, brainstorm 10 things you can do, or 10 new thoughts you can think, in order to experience that feeling today.

I need something to really challenge me. Something that is mentally stimulating. I’m not sure what that would be at this point, but I know I need a good challenge to stretch the mind. Don’t think I’m saying that moving to a new country is not challenging, or that even getting married and moving house away from family isn’t challenging either. They both are. I’m just feeling the need for a good challenge. That’s what I want to achieve next year—accomplishing the challenges set before me. It’s not a very specific goal, but sometimes vague, big-picture goals are good.

I usually feel free when I’ve achieved something. Up until the point of achievement, it’s like a burden is hanging over me waiting to be let go.

How can I experience this feeling today? Here are 10 thoughts (a.k.a. things people have said to encourage me):
I can do (most) anything I make up my mind to do.
I’m talented.
I’m clever enough to figure most things out eventually.
I’m a talented artist of some form.
I’m reliable.
I’m loyal.
I’m strong.
I’m brave.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
God is good.
