It’s still pretty hard to believe we were so close to Ephesus when we were in Turkey. We had the opportunity to hire a car and drive there since it was so close. Ephesus is the city where Paul lived for awhile. The theatre where the riot over the idols to Artemis happened is in Ephesus (see Acts 19:21-41). Of course, Paul wrote the letter to the Ephesians, and Ephesus is also one of the seven churches mentioned in Revelation.

So it’s a pretty cool bit of history that we got to see. It was one of the largest cities in Roman Asia Minor, and only about 10% of it has be excavated so far.
